Is anyone on here on the side of putting karate into the olympics?

If it is suppose to be a "non-contact/sundome" type, then I would like to see ITKF in the olympics. However, seeing how the Olympics is considering getting rid of wrestling, I doubt the type of karate I like would be accepted. The Olympics want a sport that is popular, especially in Europe, and has TV appeal. The Olympics is not about the athlete or the sport anymore. They are trying to be a commerical enterprise. Maybe they always were, I do not know. But I thought the Olympics was for the love of sport and not money.

I thik Makoto is right. All they are looking for is popular TV. To get rid of wrestling really is a bit of a change from where the olympics came from.

To get rid of that, why do we still have walking? Or so many runing distances? Or so many other sports that noone seems to watch?

Personally I'd rather not see karate in the olympics and if they are going down the TV route they probably won't put it in. MMA is more likely to draw a crowd.

I'd rather not see Karate in the Olympics either. Maybe that is just my personal beef about signing up for self-defence, thinking I was learning self-defence, but actually doing a sport.

I enjoy watching the Judo and TKD, and I think that MMA would be a better fit. I'm shocked and sad that they are axeing wrestling, though, as it is the only place you actually see "proper" wrestling that is not just a silly show for kids.

Freestyle (for men and for women) and Greco-Roman (men only) wrestling are back in, with slightly modified rules and weight classes.

Good news I think. It is strange how some sports are more 'watchable' or watched than ohers, I mean watching people run isn't really that exciting - is it?
